Young Conservatives, Do you feel your voice is suppressed by the college community? I feel like my conservative ideologies are not only unwanted, but loathed by the teaching and student community. I plan to start a conservative discussion group but I haven't even started college yet and I got a very rude answer from a professor when I asked if one already existed. The college idea of free thought dosen't seem to be a two way street...
Is there a unit transfer rate from a community college to a UC? I took a couple of classes in high school at De Anza College (community college in California) and it counts for 4 quarter units. However, what happens if the units are being transfered to a school on the semester system? Will the class of 4 quarter units only then be 2 semester units? Or will it still be 4 units from the community college and 4 units at the school with the semester system?
Transferring from a community college - How does it work? I am confused about how transferring from a community college works. After completing 2 years at a community college, can you just apply and transfer to any other college/university, or only if they accept the credits? Do only certain colleges and universities accept credits from only certain community colleges? Do you need to know if the 4-year college will accept the credits for the classes at the community college BEFORE applying to a community college?
How can one gain experience teaching at the college/community college level? It seems impossible to get a job or experience teaching at the college or community college level because everyone wants to hire only those with prior experience...yet no one is willing to give it. ALso, there are no programs available wherein one could volunteer for experience. This seems true with any field at all! (I hold a Master's degree and for my thesis created a college course comlete w syllabis, and graduate w a 4.0 GPA for Master's, and 3.8 for B.A. Also, just got bartending license and TIPS certification, all want experience there also...it is a vicious circle! I appreciate any help suggestions! Thank you.

How can I tell if one community college is better than another or if a particular community college is good? I want to attend a community college. I have the choice narrowed to two schools--Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming and Northern Virginia Community College in Alexandria, Virginia. Aside from trying to glean clues from their catalogs, can anyone give me some suggestions to figure out which is the better school? I mean, is their some objective source--some accrediting agency or something of the sort--that could help me tell the good schools from the bad ones or which schools do a good job of preparing students to transfer into 4 year schools and succeed once they've transferred?
Do colleges care if you have transferred from a 4-year college to a community college? I am a sophomore at 4-year college right now and don't like the school. I want to fininsh off this coming semester so I can transfer to a community college since it's cheaper. I plan on taking the next semester at a cc. And then when I become a junior, I'm going to another 4-year college to graduate. Will the colleges I will be applying next year wonder why I started out as a student at a 4-year college but then decided to transfer over to a community colleges?
Can I transfer my community college credits to another out of state community college? I registered for Golden West Community College, and I will be going there for Fall 2008. However, I want to move to Colorado to attend community college there, maybe at Pikes Peak or Pueblo Community College. Will my credits be transferable? Thanks so much, any links will be helpful, cause i can't find anything on the college's websites. I need proof for my parents, but information is just fine.
If you owe one community college money can u transfer to another community college and start over? My cousin attends community college and owes her current school money. If she transfers to another community college will she be able to enroll, if she still owes the first community college money. All i know is that she will not be able to have her transcripts released. She decided to start all over from scratch since she changed her major, so does it matter if she is in debt at one community college but plans to enroll and start all over from the beginning at another community college. Will she be able to attend another college without any problems.
Can i start over at another community college? I had a terrible start at Coastline community college, 9 F's and 6 W= drops. Can i go to another community college like Golden West Community college and start over as in take all the classes i took in the coastline community college over in Golden West community college and do well in them. I know i was immature and ignorant in the past, but i know what to do now.
What is the best Community College to go to in Omaha, Nebraska? I currently live in California, but I'm planning on going to college in Nebraska in the fall. I eventually want to end up at UNO, but to get there I have to go to a Community College first. Because I don't live in Nebraska, I cant take a personal tour to see which one I like the best. So I pretty much have to rely on the internet. In your opinion, what Community College is the best in Omaha Nebraska? Like which ones have the best off campus living?
About transfering from Community College to University but Also have Foreign Transcript? Hi: I am planning to transfer to CSUEB the coming winter from a community college. My problem is, in addition to the transcript from community college I also have a foreign transcript which I think I might have some credits to transfer, so I am wondering do I need to turn the foreign transcript with my community college transcript together? Or I can turn if after I have been admitted into the University because I have heard 1 of my friend who got rejected for the reason of too many units.
What is a good community college in Illinois? As of the moment, I'm in high school and considering different community colleges to go to. I'm planning to get my BSN in nursing and I want to get rid of general classes and hopefully transfer to UIC after my two years in the CC. What is a good community college in IL?
What universities can a Community College student with a 4.0 GPA expect to be able to transfer to? I've completed 49 credits at my local community college. I have a 4.0 GPA, Phi Theta Kappa membership, and multiple Honors classes under my belt. I'm planning to just transfer to a public university in my state. But theoretically, what are some of the more well known Universities that accept Community College transfer students, especially ones with impressive academic performance at their CC?
How to get a teaching position at a community college? I have a BA in Anthropology and I am finishing my MA in Human Sexuality Studies. I am very very interested in teaching at a JC or community college. I know right off the bat I am going to have difficulty getting equivalency status granted to teach Anthropology. However, that aside, are there any tips to securing a teaching position when I will be competing with MA's and PhD's in Anthro? I am interested in the Los Rios Community College district in Sacramento, CA and will be moving up there after I get married next summer. I know that being a part of the community is key to the community college atmosphere and experience, and I will be trying to do that in whatever way possible. Any other tips or ideas on how to get a teaching position at a JC?
What does the average community college offer to a student with children? Do community colleges offer special programs for students with children? I have 3 children (who, at the time of attending college, will all be in elementary with my youngest going into kindy), and though I'm together with their father, I'm "technically" single and have no income since I've only been the stay-at-home mommy. Do colleges offer special financing, daycare, or any other benefits for someone like me?
I am going to community college. Should I still apply to four year schools as well? I am planning on going to my local community college and getting my associates degree in psychology. Although this is my plan, should I still apply to university's I am interested in? My Sats weren't all that great, average I'd say. Still, should I apply to other places? I am afraid if I stick to only applying to my local community college, and I get denied I'll be out of luck. Also, should I still get letters of rec and apply for finical aid? Does that apply to community colleges?
How would going to a community college affect my chances of becoming a doctor? My overall goal goal is to become a psychiatrist. If I go to community college for one year how would that affect my chances of getting accepted into med school? What about two years? Also, I've heard I shouldn't take any science classes at community colleges if my play is to become a doctor. What else should I not take there? Would it be okay to take math and English? Foreign language? Any other advice is appreciated, thanks :) Yes, I realize I need more than community college... obviously. I am asking about after a year of cc. From that point forward.
What is the best community college to attend in NJ? Does anyone know which community college in NJ is the best one to attend, at least for extra courses or for a two year period before transfering to a university? I heard Brookdale was the best one to attend in NJ, but I just wanted to make sure. I'd really appreciate the quick response, because I have to make my decisions about college fast. Thanks!
Is two years at a community college ok for an aviation career? Well, I don't really want to spend much money on college... I already have many backup plans if aviation does not work out for me, so a four year degree is just something I don't want right now. Instead I thought getting an Associates degree at my local community college would be ok. I looked at a lot of Airline job applications and it says to be competitive you should have some college... I think this is a good idea because it will allow me to spend more money on getting flight hours. What do you guys think?
What is the best community college in Washington State and lowest cost? I'm deciding on going back to college- for a second degree. My frist one is in business, but I had a change of heart and now I want to apply to dental school. But I don't want to spent extra money on my general classes. Transferring from a community college to a university question? Is it possible to transfer from a community college to a university early before i finish my AA? The first semester isnt even over yet, but i want to know if it is possible if i can transfer by next year. Right now i really feel like i'm going no where with my life in this community college and i feel like i have to leave! I really cant stand my town any longer! How do you transfer from a community college to a 4-year college? I'm thinking about going to community college rather than applying to be a freshman in a 4-year-college. It's not because my high school record is bad (it is pretty strong, in fact), but because of financial problems I might have if I go to a 4-year college for all four years. If I studied at a community college for 2 years before transferring into a 4-year college, will it look bad? Could I transfer to anywhere, even a top-tier school, as long as my record stays great? Is it more difficult to get admitted as a transfer student? is the process the same as it is for prospective freshmen?
How many credits can transfer from a community college to a state accredited university? Specifically, I used to attend Bergen Community College and transferred over to Rutgers Newark. Currently, Rutgers has accepted all 24 of the credits I took during my first year in college. If I were to attend Bergen Community College over the summer and take course(s). Up to what limit would they stop allowing those credits to be transferred over? New Jersey
How can I transfer to a liberal arts college from a community college? I currently live in Austin and attend the community college here. I have only 12 credits and looking at the details, I would have to apply as a freshman. I am so confused on what I what to do...PLEASE HELP! THANKS!
Should I start at a community college for a 4 year engineering degree? I am considering going back to school to get a 4 year engineering degree. Should I start at a community college and then go to a university or should I just start and finish at a university? I have been told that starting at a community college is a lot cheaper but there are sometimes classes that will not transfer so it may take a little longer. Is this true? Also if I got a 2 year degree from a community college would it be possibly to upgrade later on to a 4 year degree? If so how much additional work would it be? Thanks for any comments
Can you start community college at at different times of the year? I remember in high school if you failed your first semester you couldnt do that semester in the 2nd semester in normal classes. Can you do your first semester in the 2nd semester part of the year and still take the regular classes in community college? Im getting my ged but might not get it before the deadline when community college starts again.
How much does community college professors make and what are the benefits to this profession? Well...here's my story put short. I was in the nursing program until now (1 yr total) and realized that I don't want to be a nurse nor want to put up doing that for the rest of my life. I want a career that I'm passionate about and something that I can say, "You know what, today was a bit stressful (cuz every job has its ups and down) but I'm willing to do this!" I changed my major to biology education...my goal is to finish my BA in this and then go on for my master's and work at a community college as a professor. All the nurses I've interviewed so far do not like their jobs (except a few) and all say to do something that is less stressful. I'm glad I made my decision early on...didn't want to be 50 yrs old trying to change my career if ya know what I mean. So my question is what are the benefits to becoming a community college professor and what is their mean salary? Oh, random question...what is your view on careers and why one should choose a profession based on heart or ...based on money cuz that is why I picked nrsg...the money...and realized that won't bring me happiness..
How can I enter a community college at age 13? I'm rounding out the 8th grade and moving on to my freshman year next school year. I am a 4.0 student, and this summer, I'm hoping to enroll in a community college for college classes as a prelude for High School. Does anyone know how I can get enrolled - or if colleges even accept students of my age (if so, which community colleges in the Bay Area do you reccomend?) and if any exams or intervews are needed prior to acceptance? Thanks!

How do I get over the negative community college stigma? I just graduated High School. All of my friends are moving off to the colleges and universities of their choice, and because of some poor decisions made by me in High School, I'm stuck here, going to a local community college and then transferring. How do I get over this mix of jealousy and anger at myself for not being proactive and getting into a good college?
How can I make friends in community college? I'm at my second semester of community college and i'm really frustrated. I tried to talk to people and even join clubs, sports, and study group, but haven't made a single friend. I'm tired of being alone and I'm getting sad just thinking about it. All I know is, I can't wait to transfer, but that would be in 2 years :(. What should I do to make the college fun?
